Save Our Environment!

April 17th, 2008 by fionas

Howdy, everyone!

Earth day is coming. How about turning those lights or taps of when not in use? Recycling paper or any other stuff?

There are MANY ways you can help save Earth’s environment. It just takes a bit of effort but its worth it. SO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT, DO SOMETHING!

Probably half or more of our garbage could be recycled and not thrown away to some dump creating land pollution? So, think about it before you put something into the trash can…could I reuse this? could I recycle this? maybe.

Never EVER throw any waste into the sea. Many different species of sea creatures live in there. They may mistaken your trash for food and what happens when they swallow it? Trouble. For example, the turtle. It mistakens one plastice bag for a jellyfish; swallows it up and chokes to death. Bye bye turtle. Don’t pollute!

Don’t only recycle or reuse or save electricity or water on Earth day! Do it EVERYDAY!

Be a good person. Please help save our environment.

Cheers, Fiona

My Weather Myth

March 16th, 2008 by fionas

My name is Squig, and I live in a house in the sky.

On one bright sunny afternoon, I was looking into space, and I saw something, something like a star. I looked harder, and pretty soon my sight faded away, and my eyes started seeing black spots. It made me really dizzy. I wasn’t sure if I was blind or not, but what convinced me was the next day I really couldn’t see anything, but I could remember that today was the day I had to paint my house in the sky.

I felt my way around the house in the sky. My hands landed on the door frame, and thinking it was the entrance/exit, I stepped outside.

I took out the brush with the white paint dripping, at least I thought it was white paint, I painted and painted. I didn’t know which color was which, so I dipped the brush into all the pots and I painted and painted.

Since my house in the sky is so big, I’m guessing it would take me forever. The bright sunny afternoon didn’t feel so bright and sunny as I painted. I was feeling tired, so I stopped for awhile.

Every now and then I tried to finish painting my huge house but somehow I could never get it done.

Because of Squig and his sight, this is why we have sunsets, and it is one of my favorite things in the sky.

Carbon Footprint

What is a carbon footprint?

Your carbon footprint is how much impact you put on Earth. If your carbon footprint is big, that means you have a lot of impact on Earth. Walking to school or work is one of the ways to reduce the amount of impact. Unfortunately I live about 20 minutes away from school and it is almost impossible to walk to school. Another way(s) to reduce the amount of impact is to turn off the switches in the room after you leave. You could also recycle regularly. Do you recycle? If you do, that could help reduce the amount of impact you put on Earth and your carbon footprint could be smaller. The smaller the better. If you printed something and you didn’t like it, you could use the other side of the paper and print something else.

http://www.zerofootprintkids.com/kids_home.aspx?restart=yes <you could go there to find out how big your carbon footprint is. Mostly for kids though.

I would like to know more about a carbon footprint in every way.

The Greenhouse Effect

February 24th, 2008 by fionas

How is Earth Like a Greenhouse?

The sun’s rays, also known as solar radiation, pass through the Earth’s atmosphere. Most of the solar radiation is absorbed by the Earth’s surface and warms it. But some of the solar radiation is reflected by the outer edge of the Earth’s atmosphere and bounces back into space. Some of the ultra violet radiation passes through the atmosphere, and some doesn’t make it back to space but bounces back and forth in Earth’s atmosphere, making Earth warmer.

What is global warming?

February 10th, 2008 by fionas

Global warming is about the Earth heating up. That didn’t help, did it?

The Earth is heating up because many people are using car gas (gasoline). Car gas is bad because it is bad air. The Earth’s atmosphere is heating up and that is global warming. Now did that answer it? Probably not EVERYTHING about global warming.

That, so far, is what the best teacher taught me, Mr Winters. I would never forget that.

Anyways, back to subject. You know, I get distracted. ARGHH!! There I go again… *sigh* Well other that car talk I think people could prevent global warming by walking or biking or using any other non-gas equipment to go to one place to another. I really hope the Earth wouldn’t heat up in the future.

(Earth’s the only planet with chocolate!) Haha. But you know, chocolate isn’t everything. Earth is also the only planet living… There I go again… Better stop now or never! *phew*
Feel free to ask any questions…

Yours till the sun stops shining, Fiona the Fearless :D

Have fun!

Climate Changes

February 5th, 2008 by fionas

Yo viewers!! Welcomewelcomewelcome.

What I know about climate change

In different areas of the world there are different climates. Many animals can adapt to all kinds of climates. Some animals hibernate, some have thick fur, etc. I know there are cold, hot, dry, wet and rainy climates. Those are the ones I know of and I’m sure that are many more. Human can find it easier to adapt to climate changes.

What I want to know about climate change

How do animals survive when they cannot adapt to a climate?

In what condition do you think, would the world be in in 40 years?

What are the other types of climates?

Which is your favorite type of climate?

I hope you can answer some of my questions.

Thanks for listening, Fiona the Fantastic :P
